“Sharing your shelf is sharing yourself – showcasing the building blocks that have crafted your knowledge, personality, and identity.”
Peter Knox
A life is made up of countless building blocks – too many to fit on a shelf.
Let me give you an outline...
What more can you learn about me from the contents of these shelves?
I live on the pristine north coast of sunny South Africa. There are few places like it on the planet! Africa is my home. That said, I'd love to travel more, so this globe is a reminder that the world is far bigger than my country and continent. Adventure is out there!
I love to read! The books I read and the notes I compile along the way are part of my personal journey toward mastery. I read slowly, so I choose my books carefully. These are a few of the most helpful reads in recent years, along with a stack on Kindle and Audible.
This caffeine molecule is meaningful for two reasons. First, I love coffee!! Second: I love to bring a double-shot of creativity to whatever it is I’m working on. It helps to take some extra time to let an idea brew, the output is better by far.
While Newton's Cradle wasn't designed by Newton, it demonstrates the elegance of the principles of physics. It's also a reminder that – whatever I do – I "stand on the shoulders" of countless giants who have gone before.
My wife loves plants and our home has plenty of them. Thankfully, I'm not the decorator! I tend to be overly analytical in my approach to things and I'm so grateful for the many splashes of life and colour my wife and our 3 children bring into my world!
One of the best descriptions of hope I've come across is from 19th-century poet Emily Dickinson: “Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul – and sings the tunes without the words – and never stops at all.” Hope is precious and it's what keeps me going, through the inevitable ups and downs of life.
